As with other areas of your business and indeed your personal life, you have some direction. Yet so many businesses fail to apply the same methodology to their marketing. This is surprising because you are presumably in business to make a profit (amongst other reasons) and this profit is inevitably derived from sales. In order to obtain sales and increase them, you need to know how you are going to achieve them and Marketing is the way in which you attract new and existing customers to buy your products and services. Therefore if you haven’t planned how you are going to acquire these customers, how can you ensure that you will make enough sales and profit ?
There are a number of pitfalls in store if you do not have a plan in place. These mistakes may range from targeting the wrong people, sending unclear messages through your advertising, not following up leads, not recognising inexpensive marketing methods, running out of budget or not having a budget at all. Without a plan, your efforts to attract customers are likely to be less efficient.
